Original “Hee Haw” honey to star in Comedy Barn Theater Show Oct. 20
Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Oct. 17, 2018 — Diana Goodman McDaniel, one of the original cast members of televisions’ “Hee Haw” variety show, will make a guest appearance in The Comedy Barn® Theater show on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, in both the 5:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. shows, for one night only. The Comedy Barn® Theater sits in the original location of Archie Campbell’s former Theatre. Campbell was a “Hee Haw” fixture.
“Hee Haw” was a popular country music variety TV show that blended musical segments and comedic skits with cornball humor. It aired on CBS from 1969 to 1971 followed by a 21-year run in syndication. For nearly 25 years The Comedy Barn®Theater has carried on the tradition of a clean family friendly country flavored comedy variety show much in the flavor of the hit TV show, “Hee Haw.”
“As always, The Comedy Barn show will have people laughing all night long,” said Jim, Hedrick, co-owner of The Comedy Barn® Theater. “We have gained a reputation as the most successful and most attended clean comedy theater in the world and we are very excited to host Diana in our award-winning family comedy variety show in the great Smoky Mountains.”
Years after a life filled with celebrities and entertainment, McDaniel, now 67, is sharing her story in a newly published book titled, “Hollywood Lights, Nashville Nights: Two Hee Haw Honeys Dish Life, Love, Elvis, Buck and Good Times in the Kornfield.” The book is a collaboration with fellow “Hee Haw” actress Victoria Hallman, who listened to McDaniel’s stories and compiled them and her own into a tell-all style memoir. McDaniel was on “Hee Haw” from 1981-86.
“If people would like the opportunity to have a walk down memory lane and to meet and greet Diana, we invite them to come to this special show,” Hedrick said. “People will have a chance to buy an autographed copy of her newly released book starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the gift shop of the Comedy Barn® Theater. Diana will be happy to share stories of her amazing celebrity lifestyle.
“Diana is open about her life that was very different from the one she lives now,” Hedrick said. “She is still recognizable as the woman who was crowned Miss Georgia USA 1975 and who went on to have a passionate affair with Elvis Presley.
“Please come and meet this lovely entertainer who will be having an autograph signing of her book when she is not on stage entertaining the regular Comedy Barn Theater crowds,” Hedrick said.
McDaniel said, “I enjoy meeting people. I look forward to meeting the people of Pigeon Forge and making new friends at The Comedy Barn Theater.”
