A Man of Music, Business, and most of all, FAITH
“Miracles begin as tiny seeds of faith.” Those are the words written on a small plaque in his office, followed by a New Testament scripture: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1″ A simple, yet profound message that defines the driving force behind Bob Eubanks, General Manager of The Miracle Theater in Pigeon Forge.
Why would a well-educated, successful businessman and musician like Bob Eubanks want to be the General Manager of a brand new theater with an all new, completely original show? “It was a calling.” He explains. “I didn’t need the job. I had a great job.” Eubanks was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, graduated from the University of Tennessee with degrees in both Computer Science, and Music Education. He left behind a prestigious career as a programmer for the University of Tennessee Hospital and all the trimmings that go along with it. He says his wife of 28 years, Pam, played a large part in convincing him to take the position offered by David Fee and Jim Hedrick, owners of the new faith-based venue. Simply put: “I wanted to have an opportunity to use the musical talents God has given me to reach a large amount of people and touch their hearts. I knew a production like The Miracle would do that. Truthfully, the rewards I gain from working with The Miracle far exceed anything I have given up.”
David Fee, co-owner and CEO of Fee Hedrick Family Entertainment Group, the entertainment conglomerate which owns The Comedy Barn Theater, Black Bear Theater, and The Miracle Theater says he chose Bob to be GM of The Miracle for very specific reasons: “Bob has wonderful people skills, he is a strong, motivational communicator, and he has the level of integrity we were looking for in the leader of The Miracle Theater. A leader has more credibility when others know he is sincere.”
Bob Eubanks maintains a very full plate, while serving as full-time General Manager for The Miracle Theater, he is also the music minister for Fountain City Presbyterian Church. He says the two positions work together well. “I try every day to translate my spiritual philosophy based on experience in church ministry into the corporate world of the theatrical entertainment business. A production like The Miracle lends itself well to that translation.” He explains, “While we are very much a secular business in every sense, The Miracle Theater represents the core of my being: The life and miracles of Christ. That can’t be separated from who we are or what we do.” Yes, it’s a business, but, to Bob Eubanks, it’s a business with a much higher purpose. Every production based in The Miracle Theater will be based from a theme of Judeo-Christian values. Thus, making The Miracle Theater one of the largest faith-based venues in the United States.
The Miracle Theater will be the home of a multi-million-dollar, Biblically based theatrically exciting production, appropriately called: The Miracle, based on the events surrounding the life of Jesus Christ. Going a step beyond the familiar passion productions of our time, The Miracle will emphasize the constant struggle between forces of good and evil. The cast of more than 100 singers, dancers, actors, stunt professionals, and technical experts will work with live animals to present a breathtaking retelling of scripture. The curtains rise with the dawning of creation as an overhead aerial angelic battle ensues, casting Lucifer and his minions out of Heaven, introducing the concept of an ongoing, spiritual struggle. The Miracle is an enormous, original, musical production. Music, a passion of General Manger Eubanks, makes up 90% of the production that takes audience members on a moving journey to the streets of Jerusalem to witness the life, miracles, teachings, death, resurrection and glorious ascension of Jesus.
The excitement Mr. Eubanks has regarding The Miracle Theater is most certainly contagious. His smile and enthusiasm communicate his hopes for the new production. “Every day is exhilarating. I look forward to the 45- minute drive I make because I know I will face new and exciting challenges every time I walk through the door. The future of this theater is unlimited. I want to be a part of that, administratively as well as musically.”
