PIGEON FORGE, TN – The Santa Fund has passed the $20,000 mark, putting it two-thirds of the way toward the goal for this Christmas season.

David Fee and Jim Hedrick of the Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group have donated $5,000 to the fund. Fee and Hedrick own The Comedy Barn, Black Bear Jamboree and the Miracle Theater (now the Louise Mandrell Theater).

Their gift plus others have pushed the Santa Fund total to $21,315.

The goal of $30,000 was set by Jana Thomasson, publisher of The Mountain Press and coordinator of the Fund.

Other new contributions received:

$1,000 from the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Resort Gift Show

$150 in anonymous donations

$25 in memory of Kay Parton

The Santa Fund takes cash donations and uses them to buy toys, clothes and food for less fortunate Sevier County families. The donations are turned over to the Douglas Cherokee Economic Authority.

Contributions can be mailed to The Mountain Press, P.O. Box 4810, Sevierville, TN 37864, or dropped off at the newspaper office, 119 Riverbend Drive off Dolly Parton Parkway, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.

The deadline for donations is Dec. 19.
