Comedy Barn and Hurricane VictimsPigeon Forge, TN- Even in the face of crisis, laughter can prove to be the best medicine and the owners of the Comedy Barn Theater are reaching out to the victims of hurricane Katrina.

“So many evacuees were in our theaters last night that after talking to them, we decided that we had to do something to help,” said David Fee, co-owner of The Comedy Barn Theater in Pigeon Forge. “Therefore, we decided that we would invite residents of Louisiana, Alabama, or Mississippi to enjoy the award winning Comedy Barn Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee FREE OF CHARGE from now through September 12, 2005.” All that is necessary for admission is a valid Louisiana, Alabama or Mississippi Driver’s License. Reservations are strongly recommended.

“Two families in particular came to our show last night after driving all day from New Orleans. They believed that they had lost everything and decided that they needed a laugh so they came to The Comedy Barn Theater. Since they still hadn’t gotten a hotel room and didn’t know what they were going to be doing all week, The Comedy Barn Theater decided to set them up in a chalet and provide them with theater tickets for an entire week,” said Fee. “We never would have dreamed that we would have met such nice people in our time of need. They’ve definitely gone out of their way to help ease our burdens and give us the mountain hospitality that we’ve always heard about,” said Shane Boudreaux from New Orleans, LA. “We think our home was destroyed and they’ve really helped us to keep our faith,” said Rebecca Buras also of New Orleans.

Fee, co-owner of The Comedy Barn Theater also announced that The Comedy Barn Theater plans to donate $10,000.00 to the American Red Cross, specifically to assist in the hurricane disaster relief. Janya Marshall of the Knoxville Chapter of the American Red Cross said, “We are overwhelmed by the size of this donation. The folks at the Comedy Barn Theater can always be counted on in a time of need.”

“It’s the least we can do.” Fee explains. “Human beings are the only creatures who can relieve stress and express joy through laughter. The Comedy Barn Theater is all about laughter, and it is a unique gift we can give to people in pain. Some people take advantage of those in a disaster situation when instead we believe this is the perfect opportunity to help those in need.”

The Comedy Barn Theater is operated under the umbrella of The Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group in Pigeon Forge and is dedicated to family, faith, and fun. The Fee Hedrick group also owns and operates The Black Bear Jamboree Dinner and Show, The Blackwood Breakfast Variety Show, and has recently acquired The Louise Mandrell Theater, which is soon to become one of the largest faith-based theaters in the nation, and will be named The Miracle Theater.
