PIGEON FORGE, Tenn., July 12, 2011 — The Comedy Barn Theater© in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., recently launched a nationwide contest on Facebook to give their rooster logo mascot a fitting name. The bright orange and red rooster mascot with a yellow beak and feet has been a longstanding logo of the theater for 16 years, but he has never had a name, until now.

“Our rooster has been part of the Comedy Barn Theater logo for over a decade now,” said Clare Lewis, general manager of The Comedy Barn Theater. “He is one of the most recognizable characters in the South, but he never had a name. So a couple of months ago we began taking entries through our Facebook page and after over 500 entries, our rooster has a name that epitomizes his fun loving, good-time nature. The lady who gave him his name is Cindy Stovall, of Walnut Grove, Ga. Stovall said, “I thought to myself what would be a good name for the rooster and I came up with Rooty Rooster.”

To enter the contest all participants had to fill out and submit an official entry form. The forms were found online at www.ComedyBarn.com and no purchase was necessary.

Jim Hedrick, theater co-owner and vice president of Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment said the organization decided to add a mascot to build on The Comedy Barn’s entertainment theme and to become more involved in the social media community. “Helping to name the mascot was another opportunity for our customers to have some fun,” Hedrick said. “While our rooster is not in our show, he is a fun loving kind of guy, a bit of a trickster and very talented – just like all our world class performers here at The Comedy Barn Theater”. We gave some really incredible incentives for helping our Facebook fans give him the perfect name. It was fun to see what our fans came up with. We have a lot of jokes, videos, photos, deals and contests on our Facebook page.”

“Our rooster hosted a very special night for our winning Stovall family,” Hedrick said. “They had a complimentary dinner at Tony Roma’s, were given free tickets to our world famous Comedy Barn Theater”, took home a complimentary copy of the show on DVD and an autographed poster of ‘Rooty Rooster’ and even stayed the night at The Music Road Hotel, as our guests. We want to give special thanks to our friends at the Music Road Hotel and thanks to Cindy for being such a great fan of our show and for naming our rooster.”

The winner’s prizes were valued at $500.00. Prizes could not be transferred or sold and had no cash value. Participants had to be 21 or older to enter and there was only one entry per household. The Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group employees and their families were not eligible.

Now in its sixteenth season, the multi-million dollar Comedy Barn Theater” continues to make audiences roar with laughter with its nationally known, family-friendly comedians, ventriloquists, magicians, jugglers, musicians and fun barnyard animals.
