PIGEON FORGE, Tenn., July 12, 2011 — Three legendary performers — Donna and R. W. Blackwood of The Country Jamboree Breakfast Show at the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Theater in Pigeon Forge and Larry Stewart, lead vocalist and acoustic guitar player of Restless Heart were reunited in Pigeon Forge recently.

Restless Heart is an American country music band established in 1984. R. W. and Donna Blackwood were friends with Stewart’s father, Buddy Stewart, who passed away in 1979.

We knew Larry’s Daddy, Buddy, when Larry was just a little boy about 4 years old, Donna Blackwood said. We first met Buddy when we sang in a concert in Paducah, Ky., and he came up after the show and introduced himself. Everyone in gospel music knew Buddy because he sang and because he sold cars to a lot of us. After we first met Buddy we became instant friends for life, Blackwood said. When we would go through Paducah we would go to Larry’s Pee Wee Football and Baseball games. The last time we saw Larry was at his father’s funeral. We stayed in touch for a while and then we lost touch even though we would see his Mom from time to time. We stayed with his Mom anytime we were in Paducah.

When we heard Larry was coming to Pigeon Forge we got in touch with him on Facebook and then we were able to meet him backstage, Blackwood said. Larry used to sit in the hot air outside and watch us sing and this time we sat in the hot air and watched him sing. We have all been performing a long time. We have all been blessed. It has come full circle.

In addition to being a vocalist, Stewart is also an accomplished song writer. When Stewart was 8 years old he wrote the song, This Man of Galilee The Blackwood singers recorded the song – the very first song Stewart ever wrote – on one of their albums, titled, Last Letters Home. The Blackwoods were able to give Stewart a copy of the album when he came to town.
